Description of the Business
Stancorp is a a holding company for insurance and asset management subsidiaries. The insurance business offer group and individual disability insurance, group life and accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and group dental insurance.
The asset management business offer full-service 401(k) plans, 457 plans, defined benefit plans, money purchase pension plans, profit sharing plans, 403(b) plans and non-qualified deferred compensation products and services through an affiliated broker-dealer.

example because high credit ratings. Another important differentiator is the perceived trust customers have in an insurance company.
